Created by the fantastic BBDO Atlanta and our marketing team at The Honey Baked Ham Co.® headquarters, our hilarious KellyBaked ad made waves in advertising periodicals when it debuted last year. At the time, it was our first national television advertisement in a decade – and outlets like Little Black Book, The Drum, and Adweek took notice. Comparing the KellyBaked spot to DirectTV’s 2012 “Cable vs. Satellite” ad series, the media concluded our ad was “worth the wait.” But it’s just one piece of our year-round marketing efforts that help drive business for our franchisees.
Our Franchisees’ Marketing Dollars Go a Long Way
The KellyBaked ad was paid for in part by our national Ad Fund, a systemwide pool of marketing funds all Honey Baked Ham Co.® franchisees contribute to with a portion of their stores’ revenue. Relying on the Ad Fund to help manage the costs of both national and local advertising, we work with our marketing partners to create beautiful marketing materials that can be customized as needed to suit franchisees’ local advertising requirements and specifications.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Ad Fund also helps pay for up-to-date promotional materials for new products and limited-time offers, as well as point of purchase and in-store collateral year-round. And, of course, marketing advice and support is always just a phone call away.
Grand Opening and Ongoing Marketing Support
Before our franchisees’ stores open their doors, we work with them to develop a unique, detailed marketing plan designed to entice customers throughout the local area, raising awareness and generating excitement for their grand opening. To market a store’s grand opening celebration event, we recommend a range of tactics for our franchisees to choose from, including direct mail post cards, email, banners, yard signs, local paid social media ads and more. When possible, we even try to bring in local radio stations to play pre-opening endorsements leading up to the event and broadcast live on-site during the celebration itself.
