Work-life balance can be hard to reach when you’re in the corporate grind. But being a HoneyBaked owner-operator can make balance possible. Our reasonable hours and business model make it possible for HoneyBaked franchisees to live full lives outside of their HoneyBaked stores. The HoneyBaked franchise opportunity has allowed our franchisees to spend their time with loved ones and be active members of their community.
How We Do It
Reasonable hours are built directly into the Honey Baked Ham business model, which directly benefits HoneyBaked franchisees. Many HoneyBaked stores do not open until 10 a.m. and aren’t open later than 7 p.m., depending on the franchisee and the market. Here is how we make that schedule possible.
Products Are Delivered Fully Cooked
Another reason our franchisees don’t have to beat the sun to their HoneyBaked stores is because our turkey and the World’s Best Ham are delivered fully cooked to franchisees. So there is no need to fire up ovens and stoves before customers start filling the store. HoneyBaked in-store teams just need to be ready to add our signature sweet, crunchy glaze.
Lunch Revenue Stream
Lunch is one of HoneyBaked’s four revenue streams. Our emphasis on lunchtime business means our franchisees aren’t opening the doors for a super-early breakfast rush or staying late to scoop up dinner diners. Most of HoneyBaked’s business happens toward the middle of the day so our franchisees can do the school drop off and make it to after school soccer games.
Spend Time With Family
Thanks to our reasonable store hours, many of our franchisees are able to spend their time away from their stores with their families and loved ones. In addition to allowing franchisees to spend more their families, many of our franchisees made the foray into business ownership for their children. “I’ve always wanted to be a business owner to build a legacy for my kids and family,” says franchisee Tom Whiting.
Work With Family
As business owners, each HoneyBaked franchisee gets to hire their own in-store teams. Some franchisees use the opportunity to not only provide employment for loved ones, but also to spend some extra time with them. Franchisee Jennifer Hernon’s eldest son, Alan, works in her Morristown, Tennessee, store and was instrumental in her decision to franchise with HoneyBaked.
Volunteer in Community
For other HoneyBaked franchisees, being a business owner allows them to be active in their communities. Being HoneyBaked franchisees gives Tom Whiting and his wife the opportunity to be active in the Leesburg, Virginia, community. “We don’t shy away from someone needing us and we’re always eager to help,” Tom says. “Having the backing of a company allows us to achieve that.” When Tom isn’t managing his store, he volunteers with local schools, sports teams and the Special Olympics.
HoneyBaked’s reasonable hours and business model make it possible for our franchisees to strive for work-life balance. For some franchisees, that balance looks like spending more time with family and loved ones; for other franchisees it looks like being active community volunteers.
